All about Karla! Fashion, travel and positivity.
The day has finally arrived, I am sat here on my way to work writing my first post for my blog! I’ve longed to start my blog for the past few years. Now, I know, I know, what took me so long right?! I honestly wish I started sooner. As they say, you just know when you are ready, and today I woke up motivated to start sharing my experiences and opinions including all things fashion and lifestyle.
Where it all started?
.So let’s start from the beginning, my name is Karla and I am a Scotland born, Northern Irish. I come from a long line of strong, bold and outspoken women who know exactly what they want in life. I have spent my last 11 years living in Gozo, Malta however the 20 years before that weren’t so calm. When I was 12, we moved from Northern to live in Buckingham Palace with the Royal family… or so I thought. Much to my surprise we ended up in the not so royal Whetstone in North London, England. Moving to England actually turned out to be a rather pleasant shock and actually got better with time. I can honestly say that I made some friends for life there.
Zakynthos, Greece
I’ve always loved experiencing different cultures, so after spending 6 years in England it was time for this little birdy to spread her wings. So I ended up doing two, lets just say very different, seasons in Zakynthos, Greece. I learnt a lot about myself there and loved the new found independence I was experiencing! Plus Gyros is the best street food and you can not change my mind here! I travelled there with one of my high school best friends and we have so many fond memories from this experience!
Muscat, Oman
Moving onto to my next experience as a young and curious expat. Also after spending a few months back in rainy Surrey I came to the realization that I would love to live somewhere with sun all year round (so clearly not back to Northern Ireland). Thank my lucky stars my mum was living in Muscat, Oman in the middle east. So I hopped on a plane and landed in the mesmerising Oman. This place truly had my heart the moment I stepped foot on the land. Not just the beautiful scenery but the hearts of the Omani people.
Gozo, Malta
Now I am a wife and a fur mama, living the dream on an island called Gozo in Malta and working my dream job. Although there may not be sun all year round, the winter is a short one so I’ll take it! 11 years here and I most certainly call it home. I love so many things about Gozo, the nature, the architecture, the culture and the food. I met my husband here 10 years ago and the rest is history. Surrounded by beautiful beaches and scenic walks, restaurants by the sea and much more. If you are wandering should I visit Gozo then this is your sign!
So where does my love for fashion come into this?
Fashion for me is more than just clothes it’s a form of self expression, it’s an art and something that brings so many people together. You can be as adventurous as you like, convey your personality, mood and creativity without muttering a single word. Every season brings new trends and styles that you will either love or hate. Whichever it is that’s your choice and freedom to express. In this blog I will be showing you the trends I love, hate and hate to love!
Keep an eye out for my How-to-Style section which I am sure will be a favourite by my readers.
