Interview with local talent
1. How did you first get started as a content creator, and what inspired you to focus on your passions?
Funnily enough, it was a comment from a friend that inspired me to start my Disney page. I’ve always been a Disney fan, and on my personal Instagram account, which had just a handful of friends as followers, I was constantly posting Disney images from a recent trip. A friend jokingly commented something along the lines of, “People are getting tired of seeing photos from your trip; we’re not all Disney-obsessed fans like you.”
So, that inspired me to create a dedicated Disney page!
2. What do you enjoy most about creating content, both Disney-related and beyond?
I mainly enjoy the creative aspect of it. I feel like I can truly be myself without anyone judging. Since my followers are all Disney fans (if they werenât, they wouldnât follow me!) I can express my emotions, like crying out of pure joy at Disney, and nobody would judge. In fact, they would understand and resonate with me because they feel the same way!
3. How do you balance your love for Disney with creating content that appeals to a wider audience?
I donât think I actually do! My page is quite niche in that regard. While I do post daily content that isn’t always related to Disney, the vast majority of my content is, in fact, Disney-related. So, I donât think I post content that would appeal to a wider audience. To be honest, I never really thought about attracting audiences who aren’t Disney fans, so this allows me to focus almost exclusively on sharing my love for Disney.
4. What are some challenges youâve faced as a content creator from Malta, and how have you overcome them?
The usual struggles that each content creator faces are inevitable; content can take a long time to create and perfect, and some brands may not fully understand the work and hours that go into it.
I’ve seen other creators receive massive backlash or hate over certain issues, but I genuinely think Iâve been very lucky in that regard. The space is very positive, and I rarely encounter any negative vibes from my viewers.
5. How do you stay motivated and creatively inspired when producing regular content?
To be honest, I feel Iâve managed to create a healthy boundary between what I post online and my day-to-day life. I never glamorize my life; my full-time job is my priority. I work from 10 to 6, and when Iâm home, Iâm cooking, cleaning, or spending time with my husband. If I donât feel like creating content or posting, I simply donât. I donât pressure myself to post daily, as that would lead to me hating it! I love creating content, but I do it on my own terms, only sharing what I truly love or what genuinely makes me happy.
6. Whatâs a day in the life of a Disney-obsessed creator like? Any favourite routines?
I feel like my routine is very much like any typical Maltese working woman, to be honest! I wake up in the morning, do the laundry, prepare lunch, and head to work; not very Disney or magical, haha đ! But since my full-time job is as a Disney-based travel executive, my eight hours at work are almost entirely Disney-related. From researching the parks to staying updated and creating the perfect magical trips for my clients, my day is always filled with Disney!
When Iâm home, Iâm either busy planning outfits, creating my DIY Minnie ears for my next Disney trip, or filming a fun video for my followers!
7.âHow has your content evolved over time, and what do you hope your audience takes away from it?
I feel my content has changed over the years. When I started the account back in 2017 (how has it been seven years already! đ˛), I had much more free time, so I created trivia quizzes, interactive polls, and games on my stories almost daily for my followers. I also had a sort of routine; like Marvel Monday, Trivia Tuesday, Wizarding Wednesday etc. It was a whole scheduled thing that I honestly loved doing!
As the years went by, this became unfeasible due to how busy life gets, so while I still create content Iâm very passionate about, I donât post reels or images daily, as I feel that would be too mentally taxing for me.
I have my followers to thank for not expecting me to post every day. I think they understand how busy life can get, and to be honest, there are many other things that take priority; my family, my home and my job. Iâm very grateful that my followers donât expect me to post every single day.
What I hope my audience takes away from my content is that itâs a beautiful thing to try to find the “Disney magic” in our busy daily lives. Whether it’s listening to a song, reading a book, or wearing our favourite Disney character T-shirt, the Disney magic is within us all (super cheesy, but true!) â¤.
8.âWhatâs your favourite project or post youâve created so far?
Oh wow, thatâs actually super hard to answer! I canât pinpoint just one favourite post, but I have three types of content that I LOVE to create, if I may share!
1. When I make my DIY Minnie ears, I enjoy showing the entire process through a video. I love how creative I can be, and it makes me so happy to see the process captured on video.
2. The Disney outfits I create and the photos I take of them at the parks are another favourite. Before a trip, I spend time planning my outfits based on the park locations or the characters I might meet, so itâs very rewarding to finally share the photos. Itâs a whole process, with my audience involved in actually choosing my outfits, so itâs always loads of fun!
3. Whenever I visit a new park! Itâs been my dream to visit all six Disney parks around the world, so posting the moments when I walk into different Disney parks is definitely my ultimate favourite content. Seeing my audience’s reactions is priceless; I receive messages from people telling me theyâre living their Disney dreams through me. That is something I donât take lightly, and I feel so blessed.
9. What role does community engagement play in your success, and how do you stay connected with your followers?
My community is everything to me. I know that without my followers, there wouldnât be much point in posting, and Iâm eternally grateful for the love I receive from them. I believe itâs very important to connect with my audience. I share almost everything with them. My audience has even experienced my wedding with me to some extent, so theyâve been with me through it all.
How do I keep in touch? I answer every single message that comes through, and I take my time doing it! I set aside a few hours each week to sit down, open my laptop, and respond to each message one by one. I donât answer from my phone, or in a hurry. I believe people appreciate this, and itâs not something I want to stop doing anytime soon.
10.âWhat advice would you give to aspiring content creators, especially those looking to turn their passion into a full-time career?
As clichĂŠ as it might sound, please be yourself. People can see right through you when youâre not genuine. Try to be creative and donât just copy others’ content; people notice this, and it doesnât sit well with them. Personally, Iâve had my own followers message me to say theyâve noticed when others try to replicate something Iâve done!
Be truthful and show who you really are; donât try to present an image of something youâre not. Success doesnât happen overnight. It took me years to build this community into what it is today.
Just enjoy it! Viewers love seeing people who bring joy and happiness. <3
