Interview with Local Talent
1. Can you tell us a little about yourself and what motivated you to start creating content in the fashion and lifestyle space?
My name is Kristina and I am a content creator with the username ; kri_makeup. I am 19 years old and I am also a Law student and a qualified Makeup Artist in addition to a content creator. When I was very young I always knew I wanted to create something revolving around makeup and when I was introduced to social media, at a time when makeup and fashion influencers were trending, I knew that I wanted to do content creation.
2. What or who inspires you the most in your creative process?
There are many things which inspire me, mostly past experiences or something that I would be going through at the time, but the best ideas are inspired by the most random things and occurrences.
3. How would you describe your personal style, and how does it influence your content?
My personal style is very aesthetic and clean I would say, but I love to be edgy. I love posting creative looks as well and those I would say are my most favourite.
4. What has been the most rewarding moment of your content creation journey so far?
Collaborating with some brands and being invited to some events have been very rewarding for me, as I took them as a sign that my content creation is taking me somewhere and that I should not give up.
5. Could you share one significant hurdle you’ve faced as a content creator and how you overcame it?
One significant hurdle is that there was a time where I thought that I was doing this for nothing, as my reach was very low, compared to now and I thought that my ideas were not being appreciated enough. But then I started going out of my comfort zone more and I got over it, as I also was becoming more confident in myself and my creations.
6. What tools or strategies have been most helpful for you in growing your audience?
Going out of my comfort zone for sure, although there is more room for improvement. I also pay attention to the algorithm and how social media platforms treat certain types of posts better than others.
7. How do you stay authentic and true to yourself while also catering to your audience’s interests?
As a person, my values do not change, regardless of others’ opinions about me, so if my audience wants a certain type of content from me, but it does not align with either my vision or my values, I do not create such content. It is important to not lose yourself to others’ opinions, as it can be quite emotionally and mentally damaging. However, I still manage to find a way to inhabit new trends, so my creativity is not limited to people’s opinions.
8. What advice would you give to someone just starting out in the fashion and lifestyle content creation world?
Be yourself, I know it sounds a little cliche, but it is so important to do so. Also, keep going and do not give up and most importantly, do not compare yourself to other creators; everyone’s journey is different. This field can open so many opportunities for you but only if you let it and be open for them yourself.
9. Can you share a project or collaboration you’re particularly proud of? What made it special?
I am proud of all the makeup creations that I have done, but the ones that are close to my heart are the ones I had done with Mvintage. I also am proud of one particular post, where I showed one of my biggest insecurities I had in the past, which was back acne, in front of the camera and I gave a powerful message to anyone struggling with it.
10. Where do you see your content creation journey heading in the next few years? What are your future goals?
I would like to collaborate with more brands and make collabs with other influencers, as there are many talented individuals on this island and I love meeting new people and to work with new people who have the same creative mind as I do. I also would like to see my content reach more people in addition to people making use of my tips and tricks.
